I was able to hear lots of shortwave on the higher band during the day. At night the lower portion of the high band works really well. You can listen to A. With careful tuning between the regen control, the bandspread and RF control, was able to hear SSB on 40 & 80 meters. You will need a good antenna - I used a 40 meter dipole.
It uses 6 AA bateries - I would suggest you reove the AA batteries and replace with a 9 volt battery. I also have printout from Oxark patrol. Do a goggle search and you will find good information.
